Thinking it over

Thinking it over

A Poem by J

these questions mutter to me

in the quietest hours

before wee dawn ruffles my curtains

blowing naked chills

over smooth skin beneath a peculiar dream

of winged fingers fooling me

        with the bluesy comfort of

old friends

preserving memories . . .

what [who?] determines the salvageability of

broken wings kicking up allergies in fine dust

in fine fashion

In.All.Optimism

for the greater good

[for appearance’ sake] if i only could

Secreted. [for later gratification?] in the denser fog

of ‘it could be worse’ [?]

        of the Acceptance expected yesterday

I open my eyes to my saddest song of

Knowing.

My fingers will never forget

a lifetime of Bending Keys

so sweetly. . .

And in the silence

    i grieve.

making not a sound.

I believe that grieving is meant for a deeper understanding of our ability to love. A lot of people think that love is just happiness. Love is an action word. It requires even the exercise of loss. People seem to appreciate more what they don't take for granted. Pain is such a personal emotion...perhaps to build resilience. Your writing is so rooted and eloquent. It reaches out and touches, dear poet. You are truly gifted :)

Suffering for appearance sake is to live in the shadows. There were parts of this that reminded me of the stages of grief. It is written in hushed tones of pain and regret and your words ache with sorrow.

yes, we do that, in secret silence, grieve...and wonder...i mean, just the fact of us, that we're here, planted in time like a seed, bearing fruit, bitter, sweet...waiting, waiting...drawing our moisture from the depths and blossoming into the light...

nothing alive throws itself away, except maybe heroes and those that don't get it...i think that if there's one real sin, it's getting into cooperation with old age...my dear friend

I see this as the notes of thought. Giving voice to the feelings that come just before the dawn when the tide of our emotions is at its lowest ebb. The way you have placed the multiple plural thoughts we all have is nothing short of extraordinary.

This is so beautiful and heartfelt that the ink on the page must be hovering over the paper so as not to disturb its fragility. Truly wonderful words, language and thoughts.

Thing with you, dearest friend, you grieve in such beautiful words and music.. always the lady of intricate and exceptional everything. Your memories exceed more than most, hold both the gentle and complex to deal with; even your silence holds that precious you-ness.
