Chapter 1

Chapter 1

A Chapter by Austin

DINGGGGGGGGG!!!! That is the sound of the alarm clock waking you up, or as most teens like to call it, the end of summer. But, this time you can be a bit happy! You're going to high school now. You're in the big leagues today! So, go to the bathroom, take a good shower, have a good breakfast, and head on off! You have a LONG day ahead of you, trust me! Rule #6: First Day Is Always Hardest!

You're off of the bus and you're in the building. People may be looking at you weird or they may be whispering. If they are, the best thing is just to ignore them! Just go straight to your homeroom and maybe see if some of your friends from last year are there. (If you're wondering about the locker, I would advise you not to go to it because you will have some papers and things that you will need.) When you go into your homeroom, say "Good Morning!" to the teacher. Don't be too tired and crabby because that's a bad start, but don't be too eager either. Remember: First impressions are everything!

OK, now the bell has rung. You're sitting quietly in your chair or maybe talking to one of your old friends. Then, the teacher stands up. Note: This is a great way to know that they are about to tell you some important things so, Rule #7: Listen To The Teacher! They are probably going to tell you something very valuable. Or, they may just give you some forms like the school handbook, lunch form, etc. and ask for your parents to sign. No biggie!

Homeroom is now over, so you go to your first period class. He seems nice and everything and tells you the course description, hands out an outline, all of the boring stuff! Now, go to your second period class. Same thing, right? How about your third? Yep. Same thing. But, wait a minute! This fourth period teacher is very strict! Rule #8: Get Used To The Hardcore Teachers. You will have quite a few of these instructors who are just very serious and doesn't take no for an answer, so I would highly advise you to make a good first impression on them.

Alright. First half of the day is over and now for lunch. Let me tell you something right now, so you'll remember. Lunchtime can be 10 times more devestating than the classes! With this, you aren't just with your own grade or your friends, no..you are with half of the student body! Calm down.. Go to the lunch line, get your meal, then look for some friends who you know and sit by them. Avoid all eye-contact with others until you know that you are safe and seated. Now is the time when you can just talk to your buddies and ask how their first day has been going and whatever.

Rule #9: Savor Lunch! This is the time of day where you have nothing to do or say and you can just sit and chat. You need to keep this break for however long that you can because after this, you are back to your own routine.

On my first day of school, I was both excited and terrified at the same time. I mean, I didn't know what to expect at all. This was a whole new ballgame! But, if you just go through it nice and easy and pay attention, it should be a good day. Remember rule #6: First day is always the hardest! After today, you have nowhere to go, but up!
