The dazed humA Poem by JenniferA lovely warm together feeling
There's a dazed hum
That kind of sets in But only ever in the midst of two things Which must both be present. One being togetherness and The other being complete and utter relaxation. The dazed hum is welcome But not necessarily invited Infact probably never preconceived or contrived As part of it's very being. It usually involves a little bit of talk Which is not to say conversation More so, the impromptu utterances and responses of those who feel at once at ease with themselves And with their surroundings Enough so that With little or no thought Will say whatever it is that comes to mind Be it a comment on something around them, On the tv or a memory Which has drifted lazily into their mind Like a little cloud Announced to the room With little or no expectation or reply. The dazed hum won't take place in just any company Or any location. Both company and location must harmonise The welcome guests Must meld together dreamily as if they belong An interdependent relationship Which creates the vital ingredients In which the dazed hum can exist. The dazed hum is experienced by the family and the living room But not all families and not all living rooms. It's experienced by the lovers and the bedroom, The friends and the tv room, The sisters and the playroom The brothers and the gamers room, The travellers and the parlour room And the neighbours and the sitting room. The dazed hum arrives on a full stomach, After a good days work or travel It surrounds the body in warmth and contentment, It connects the body firmly to the soul And let's those dwell together: for a time at least. It is in the air of the dazed hum Thst simplicity, safety, quiet stillness, warmth, security peace, listening and love are all carried. It follows babies, children, the old and the at peace Where they go And settles around them in the while before sleep, Often leaking over onto the rest of us. Thank fully. I hope you find the harmony to allow the dazed hum settle around you Enough for you to appreciate its presence And not so much that you might take it for granted. © 2013 Jennifer |
