Africa must wake up

Africa must wake up

A Poem by Isimbabi

Africa must wake up
The sleeping sons of Jacob.
Spears and swords won't throw us,
Sticks and stones can't break broke
Phallus shaped iron demons doomed us.
Crystal clear carbon atoms wooed us
And our father's fathers, the sons, were sold.
Sold and told.
Were told of their worth in gold!

For what tomorrow may bring
May a better day come.
In ridicule and lamentation we better pray.
But Africa's a goldmine and gold mines are exploited,
Regardless, the mountains can crush them - we have say!
Picking hands with sickle hearts dig in pockets.
Prickly tongues to sickly minds say the prayer.
Hear all, come fore, be liberated
Woeful hearts with awakened minds break away...

Yesterday we were Kings.
Can you tell me young ones,
Why store keys without doors?
They served none to Pharaoh, Shailendra and Caesar.
Brother stay and hear about the long course.
your pale skin, my wool hair, his liver.
Our origin is one clan, I'm a believer.
An oasis is knowledge of a river.
Shadows are brightened at night.
Faces are washed out with light.
Life could be a dream sweetheart!

Who are we today?
Families lose their way, and cities are razed in days.
Conquerors at heart, we're bound to forever take.
