A place to breathe

A place to breathe

A Story by Jibey
"

Actually I wrote this a couple of months ago... and now that November is shutting down the old year, I enjoyed reminding myself of one of the pleasures of September

"

Dartmoor remains one of my favourite wild places. Its changing moods bring dark clouds and rain, sunshine and bright freshness.
The tors - the great granite outcrops - seem like symbols of permanence, withstanding all weathers and the scrambling feet and pitons of climbers of all levels of skill. They remain tolerant and uncomplaining.
At this time of year the wild heather and the bright yellow gorse are in profusion on some slopes, lifting the spirits with their brave show. In the late afternoon the shadows added texture to the views across the moor and we could see down into the area to the south and as far as the ocean.
We saw larks in the blue sky and a big buzzard circled, hovering on its broad, outstretched wings. Dartmoor is a place to breathe, a place to be thankful.

What a vision...reminds me of places I know, brings memories, even though I have never been to this place...to experience life in places such as this allows us to breath freely and be a part of nature. I imagine what life would be like if we could experience this belonging every day.

Inspirational words to go along with the beautiful photo. Love the yellows and greens contrasting with the blue sky and bright clouds.

i like your description, especially the part about shadows adding texture (which is true on several levels).. i think being outdoors, maybe especially in the more 'wild' places, is a good way to remind us that we are all pieces of a much bigger picture. And yes, there are many things to be thankful for.
