Promises

I never promised you a ray of light
When you plunged into darkness that night
In your heart, hear me right
I only promised to hold you tight

I never promised you a beautiful song
When you heard those mean and abusive sounds
In your mind, hear me right
I only promised to hold you tight

You never promised me a future, let alone bright

When I'd said that I wanted you mine

In my soul,  hear me right

You only promised to never be mine..
