Madison

Madison

A Poem by Jhanvi YJ

Madison watched the picture box all day

Longing to be one of them girls

Picture perfect, alluring, radiant

Their hair absolutely straight or in blameless curls

Beckoning fellows effortlessly

Hysterical and infatuating were they

Even affording to be preferential

Acquire and discard lads as and when they may.

Madison raced around the local park

To fade, expend, melt away

Spoke of things she was unwise of

Outside gay, inside grey

Bought black and navy

Poor parallel of grace, sophistication

Longing to be one of them girls-

Not an open invitation.
