Mother

Mother

A Poem by Jhada Addams
"

I wrote this poem for my mother on mother's day back in 2007. She passed away on March 2nd, 2009.

"

A baleful gaze glows
Deep within her eyes
When she’s roused to anger
But there’s also such love
And such tenderness
It almost makes me cry

So strong she stands in herself
Even when she’s too weak to move
Firm, but open minded
Even when presented with
Ideas she truly doesn’t share

She watches the world go by
Wondering where it all went
The breath, the stamina
Difficulty plagues her
Seemingly at every turn
And still she’s here.

Feeling separate from everything
She doesn’t realize
That she’s already integral
To a grand story
That’s constantly being told
Always shared and passed on

Sometimes from her own lips
At times in the words of her children
Or in the remembrances of those
Whose lives she’s changed
By her very presence
Her example.
