Glass Eyes

Glass Eyes

A Poem by ElizaB

They walk on by,
All the time.
Day or night...
They look through me,
Never at me,
Just at themselves.
I look back,
Unseen.
As they perfect.
And hide their lovers...
Adjust their ties;
Their lipstick;
Their lies.
The makeup
To hide
The darkness
Beneath eyes.
Sometimes
Sleep deprived,
Sometimes
Fists.
It all depends.
Sometimes,
I take it to heart.
But then
If they knew
What I could see
Would they even change?

The question posed at the end of this piece drives me to ponder it. I wonder if people can change as well, if they knew how you really felt, but it comes down to expressing yourself in the best way for you. very nice.
