The Tower

The Tower

A Poem by ElizaB

Words behind walls "

Breathing "

Outside,

Ice will fall

Against

Their delicate tones.

Words,

Misheard,

I rock, alone,

This mind absurd,

Birds,

Flicker

Wretched as the night,

This heartbeat

Take flight,

Quicker -

Wrap this shawl

Around my bones,

I am

Bleeding "

Against the white

Watch me crawl "

A hateful sight.

Keep the flower,

Violets abloom,

Dust the vase

And this room.

The darkest hour

Draws near -

Inside -

This fragmented tower "

I disappear.

You held me,

Once.

Forgotten heart "

Weighed in stone,

Our worlds apart,

Last breathe alone "

As the sun sets

Gentle leaves rust,

My violet sweats,

I watch,

In lust,

Within rotting bones.

Flesh, notch.

See me fall,

Beneath the dust.

To whispered chatter,

Our blood stained trust,

Make windows shatter.

Shreds in skin -

Your name etched,

Against snow so thin,

My hand outstretched.

I really like how this flows. It has a quick beat to it that keeps the readers attention. It's unique in the way it was written. Awesome job!
