The Lovers

The Lovers

A Poem by ElizaB

Close the blind -

This moon too bright,

Mute my mind -

Her words alight.

This burning heart.

Nothing left,

Her thighs apart "

How I wept.

Your beautiful theft

Against the dark,

Words of love

Etched into bark,

Words of a fool "

That is all

Lovers can do.

This is so incredibly beautiful. So full of emotion.

Usually I check out a poem or two but I just read a bunch of yours, the quality was so uniformly high. Keats said truth is beauty, beauty is truth-- well, I would add ' simple is beauty, beauty is simple'.
Your stuff has a lyrical power to it that reminds me of Emily Dickinson. I gather reading between the lines that you're young: if so, may you have a lifetime of weaving life into a tapestry of words, with all its beauty and sadness and mystery and ultimate joy.
