Beat

Beat

A Poem by ElizaB
"

Guess the prompt

"

The one I whisper to in the dark,

Beneath the stars

Below the rays

When days begin troublesome

And end just the same.

Silence my heart,

And plait my curls

Like a mother should,

Accept my faults and

Dry these tears

That fall like pearls.

Murmur sweetness into my soul,

For it is nothing but darkness,

As black as coal.

Hold me "

Childlike upon your lap.

Celestial against the gloom,

Figure slight enough

To snap.

Keep me together "

Fill my hollow shell

With gold and lies,

Sweet as caramel.

Drown me out,

Tie my words

Together with string

Until there is silence "

No more dragonfly wing

Against my skull.

Forever beating

Forever dull.
