Tonight's Deamless sleep

Tonight's Deamless sleep

A Poem by Donald Olds

As i slip into what i thought would be
another nights dreamless sleep,
I think of you.
Of your beauty and how nothing can compare,
I think of my love for you and how it will never cease,
like an endless river constantly raging onward
with a destination that we will never know until we
follow its many twists and turns.
There will be many rough rapids but with a love like
ours,
there will be nothing that we can't overcome
Now as i drift off into Tonight's dreamless sleep
I think of us.
I think of how much we've been through,
and in the end we just let it all go.
we let it go like setting a wild animal free.
as we walked away from each other that night,
when we said our final goodnight, I knew,
I knew that i would never see you again, but in my dreams,
I knew that the smell of your sweet perfume would haunt me.
I knew after that night every night after that would be nothing
but a dreamless sleep.
But tonight as i drift off into the unknown abyss, i hear your voice,
The more i fall, the more I can feel you laying here next to me.
It's almost like falling in love with you all over again.
Tonight may not be another night's dreamless sleep, because as i close my eyes I can almost see you, distinguish you from the shadows.
But then a shot to the heart makes me realize that you're never coming back... as i drift into Tonight's dreamless sleep.

Very well written. You have refined your style even more.
Still gives out that funny feeling but is more sharp.
