New York

New York

A Poem by Jex
"

Just some thoughts about New York

"

New York City is known as the place that never sleeps,

"The concrete jungle where supposedly dreams are made of."

Or  Simply... where dreams come to die.

New York City is known to be this wretched beast

Wild, Vibrant, Unpredictable, Untouchable.

Simply its own Entity.

Growing, Expanding, Sinking, Bleeding...

it’s dangerous, It's scary, not for the faint of heart.

Heed the Warnings to watch your back...  this city fights back,

So... watch out for that right hook.

But is it really the city that’s the monster ?

Or is it really, who resides within the belly of a beast?

The city alone is a beautiful place with sky scraper skies, mom and pop shops, diamonds hidden within the rough .

The city alone is like an endless Daydream.

Innocent and sweet until poisoned with disease.

You can walk the same path every day, and I guarantee it would never be the same.

Constantly shifting and evolving, maybe even a little bit out of control?

After all these things tend to have a mind of their own.

People always say New York isn’t like the movies, and it’s best to abandon that fantasy where you are The Hero, and have slain the vicious beast.

But it's really the land of the dreamers!

How else would this City been made?

New York City has so much charm that not many people know about,

That people don’t want you to know about,

After all, treasure is hidden for a reason.

And the beast always protects its hoard.

If you’re not careful, you’ll be swallowed whole, no remains to be found..

Becoming a cog in the machine.

Blinded by the hustle and bustle,

The hey!  I’m walking over here!

The changing street lights, congestion cars through every back ally street, as you walk on by,

Just around the corner only to hear...

 Yo!  Your'e Buggin!

There is a lot that goes on within this Utopian Dystopian City,

People just barely ever scratch the surface.

So be careful before you pass your judgment,

Because then You will have placed a target on your back.

There is one thing I can say for certain,

Disrespect this City

You better be prepared to become History.
