The Seven Defenses

The Seven Defenses

A Story by Jex

We live inside everyone and we all love to play Art done by Maka Tiffany

"
We live inside everyone.
Your purpose is like that of a soldier,
To serve and protect from the world so corrupt,
And the evil that roams deep within your brain.
Our names change throughout the age.
7 of us love to come out and play.
There's Repressions, who’s a pretty lax fellow.
He likes to forget the evil that causes the pain,
That would make a child cry for days.
His duty is to banish all thoughts,
Related to everything that is sorrow and pain,
so that it may dry the child's shed tears.
The next one comes to have some fun,
Gives one a warmth to last eternity.
His name is similar to that of our forgetful fellow
Regression is the Name.
His purpose is really rather child's play,
For those who are frightened and lead astray
He is a creature's comfort,
For those who wish of home.
Either it be a child who sucks on their thumb,
Or a person who holds something dear,
A blanket they had since birth, an item, object or thing that is always near.
A true escape from a horrendous reality.
Now this is where things get a little queer,
Because of this mighty warrior,
His battle is never at an end.
The Hero's name is Reaction Formation.
You never should take him too seriously though,
Only because it’s rather ironic,
For when He says I hate you,
It truly means he loves you.
It all goes back to that one simple saying
The simple boy who torments the school girl
Is really a fool who wants to be loved.
Now You better watch out,
For the one who comes next...
For Projection,
He’s really rather aggressive.
He never understands the meaning of expression.
Rather than admitting the heartache,
The calculating ego tells him to never fear.
Heartlessly take it out on others,
Like in a jungle,
Predator vs. prey.
It’s rather obvious what to do,
Simply state “it’s not me it’s you”
But in reality,
You are the liability.
Projection makes it all so smooth.
To take action in one swift strike.
Making sure it’s not you who takes the hit.
Now this next guy is really rather sly
He likes to be called by,
Rationalization.
Now you better be careful,
Because he always onr to trick.
He can be rather two faced,
And it’s only because
He’s is really quite weak.
Not strong enough, to handle the blow
When you are in pain of rejection
Rationalization is here to say
You truly didn’t want it
 It never really mattered
it's a truly heartsick denial.
To always say it’s not for you to blame
The fault is never on you
But rather…
The environment you surround you self in.
Now this next guy is truly rather terrifying,
He has no manner towards others and is rather very self-absorbed.
His name is Displacement.
He truly is one to bring shame,
When he doesn’t get his way.
Things are never safe,
He like to scream, kick, and punch.
But when the opponent is to strong
He runs to pry on the weak
Knowing with certainty, that there will be no defeat.
He cackles like a maniac,
A little spite fire
Who is in dire need to be put right out.
Now, ladies and gentleman,
This last line of defense,
Is truly one of the best.
He stands Steady and Tall,
Very Brave and Noble,
Everyone knows his name.
The all mighty Sublimation!
It sounds kind of lame
But he truly is a saint.
Instead of running away,
He takes every shame
And turns it into something great.
 Making a goal,
To go above and beyond
And to laugh in the face
In all that is Wrong.
