Not me

"Breaking free from the Nest"

I'm not who you want me to be

But I can't change who I am, the real me.

You force your beliefs down my throat

I'm about to choke

On the lies

Just realize

I'm my own

person

I'm breaking free

From these dumbed down morals into a world who embraces refugees

Like me

For I run from the rules and the chaos in your home

And I'll break free from these chains

And be my own,

Person.

Individual and different, not like the rest

I'll give it my best, no matter what

Nothing can stop me from reaching my goal

I'm going to keep going, I'm on a roll.

Creative and motivated, thats me 

Just wait and you'll see

This stage in my life is finally complete

And the scene has cut

Now it's just me.

 

And guess what...

 

 

I'm my own person!

I just threw this together. I read this poem really fast only really pausing and putting emphasis on my bold letters.

Nice... the imagery and clarity of your poem, though you just "threw it together", is dead on. I like the fact that you set a tone of self...not the self that is controlled by others, but the self that is under its own control, its own device. Bravo, great write.
