Dissolving LifeA Poem by Justin E
When he turned four years old, his mother asked him what kind of cake he wanted
And he said strawberry because it was yummy And his three friends came over because they cared for him And the cake dissolved suddenly in their mouths But he had a smile on his face because he was happy When he turned thirteen years old, his mother asked him what kind of cake he wanted And he said chocolate because everyone loves chocolate And two of his friends came over because the third one had moved away And the cake dissolved quickly in their mouths But he had a grin on his face because he was content When he turned eighteen years old, his mother asked him what kind of cake he wanted And he said plain because life was bland And one of his friends came over because the second one had a girlfriend And the cake dissolved slowly in their mouths But he did not have an expression on his face because he expected it all When he turned twenty-four years old, his mother did not ask him what kind of cake he wanted Because she was dead And none of his friends came over because the first one had forgotten about him And the gun did not dissolve in his mouth But he had a smile on his face as he fell to the floor
