Mother Earth We Failed

Mother Earth We Failed

The world around us
Rushes past
Like the six A.M. bus
Its here, and gone to fast
I look around me
I see suffering and sorrow
Everyone begging to be free
Praying for a better tomorrow
Prayers though, are not enough
This world is strong
This earth is tough
Our presence disgraced her, it is wrong
She cries rivers of blood
She quakes in fright
She is ready to slaughter, by way of flood
She has embraced the monsters of the night
Slowly our illness is seeping
Her will is breaking
I sit here weeping
Dreaming to be her king
To save her, from the filth of humanity
To return her to glory
Before she sets her decree
And turns against us all, her fury
Her molten core
Slowly turning cold
As we treat her like our w***e
Her love, once we did hold
Now her hate
And her passion run mad
That is our fate
The reaping of what we did sow, to be had
