Dear MomA Poem by JesterA poem to my mom, the angel in my life.
Dear Mom, Thank you, For the kisses on the scratches, For the Band-Aids on the gashes, For hugs anytime, For “what’s happening in your life,” For home cooked meals, Even when they’re not. Thank you, For the smell of brownies in the oven, For sitting down and listening to what we say, For driving us to everywhere we need to go, For encouraging us in everything, For never telling us it can’t be done, For never telling us to settle with what’s been given to us, For making us understand that we should reach for the stars, And never fear getting burned by them. Thank you, For adventures into the makeup box, For playing dress-up with mom and dad’s clothes, For never telling us to stop being kids, For letting us grow up wonderfully, For teaching us better than any school teacher can, For loving us through everything. So thank you mom, For the knowledge that whether we’re here or there, A mother’s love is only a phone call away, Thank you for helping to prepare us, Whether it’s taking care of a baby, Or answering questions about the world. You’re everything that a mother should be, And so much more. You are our mother, Best friend, Confidant, Teacher, Helper, Nurse, Giver of unconditional love. You have been an angel to us for all our lives, So now we say thanks, Not through Hallmark card rhymes, But through giving a little poetry a chance to shine. Thank you mom, For everything you have done, Are doing, And will do. © 2008 JesterAuthor's Note
