Concerts and KissesA Poem by JesterThe music pulses around us, Beats pounding through our chests, And bodies sway beside us. Behind us people crash, A mosh pit of the hardcore, Legs and arms flying to hit faces. A blond girl stands beside us, I only notice because her eyes meet mine, And I see you in her eyes. I pull you closer to me, As the white specter sings above us, Our bodies swinging to the flow. Specter looks around, And waves a hand, Beckoning the lost to come. You and I stand and watch, As the crowd pushes forward, Trying to reach Specter. I brace myself, Standing strong against the gathered, Shielding you. The music picks up pace, And the mosh pit begins again, And our hands reach down and lace together. How ironic, In the place where most would feel unease, We feel the most at peace. As the music dies away, I look down at you, And thank the gods that you’re here. I look around, At the gathered bodies, And spy someone who catches my eye. A man dressed in black, leather, no shirt, Too bad he’s human, Cause he plays the vamp so well. I look beside me, And gathering courage, I press a kiss to your cheek. You look at me in surprise, But soon you just smile, And laugh it all away. I look around, smiling, At the gathered who came for the Specter in white, Knowing that things are okay.
