We(re)solved

We(re)solved

A Poem by Katie Foutz Voss
"

distances.

"

Broad hands pushed the wave

back and forth.

Supported upon the shore

like interlocking fingers of sand,

palms made of broken down

treasure.

And to you and to me and

to those inside the storm

it seemed the greatest current

ever built by ocean architect,

stretching sea to sea,

heart to heart.

But to the one whose hands

held that squalling water

it was an inconsequential disturbance

in an inoffensive puddle.

The distance

was not so far.

I like the ebb and flow of this poem. It ties nicely to the ebb and flow of the waves in the ocean. Nice.
