Wait

A Poem by Katie Foutz Voss
"

Don't tell me your secrets.

"

No words left just

feelings, only feelings, little adjectives,

hurt. I am so hurt. I am so

l   o   s    t.

I think the world is ending, oh it's breaking, oh

wait. that's just my heart.

find me a song, noted poetry,

I will sing for you

until the darkness

          ----flees!

but will you listen, dear ones?

or has the endless s p a c e between

snuffed out the sound?

I think the world is [making its own] ending, oh it's

bre-ak-ing, oh

wait. that's just my heart.

there is nothing I can do, I have nothing but

prayers. they reach up from my mouth

and dance along the horizon with

clouds, which yet

r       d

  a        o

     i         w

             n

like all your unseen tears.

I think the world is ending, oh it's

    b r e a k i n g, oh!

wait. that's just my heart.

I can scarcely hold it in. the burden is

heavy on my shoulders, the weight

a hammer on my chest, I
               wait                              alone

for the answers and

   watch from a          distance...

as it crumbles and pressurizes and

I think the world is ending, oh it's

b r
           e  a

        k

          ing.....

oh.

wait.
that's just my heart.

Very well done on this one. You really mastered the use of imagery in this poem. Both with your words, and the way that you wrote them. I could feel the action, the emotion. Good job!
