Loss for Cross

Loss for Cross

A Poem by jesswrecks

I fell alseep
during the church
service somewhere
between Genesis,
Revelation and
the Body of Christ

My tongue swelling
with the juice of my
forgiven sins, and
sacrificed blood of thy
beloved - praise thee
Request of the fallen
Elder, Mother, Daughter
Child - Education, bills
paid and a hand to hold

Pastor Tommy, will
spread the butter on
his bread until he’s
sixty-eight but his
Minister license will
be revoked by fifty
-two due to that not
so Holy Adultery scene
in the foyer of God’s
House; he asks us to

stand, I wipe the saliva
from the corner of my
mouth - recite the Ten
Commandments during
Prayer, and keep my head
lowered, and eyes open
- notice that my white
Church shoes are scuffed

We are blessed and dismissed
our Commion Bread is nothing
but a Religious Appetizer
(bless this food, O Holy Father
- ) I will see thirty percent of
the Congregation at Hartz
Chicken within the next hour
