Her Arms Ensnare

Her Arms Ensnare

A Poem by Jessica Gillitzer

Musical Accompaniment

Laying here I take in your sleeping figure, the way moon light defines your cheek bones
How in dreams unknown to me your eye lashes flutter but the depths of your soul stay hidden
I trace your shoulder with my finger tips, many nights it seems like scaling heights meant for gods
Your skin so soft, I tread lightly as if not to leave prints in the delicate snow tops

I see you when you're not there
I watch when you're not aware
I'll always see you everywhere

You're the trap, the unavoidable snare

I hang from your words, painful, beautiful, ...hopeful
You don't know those words build and destroy my reality
Like the tides you come and go everyday, bringing me and taking me away
As if gods of old set this revolution in motion, constant and unforgiving

I feel you when you're not there
I reach when you won't share
I always feel you everywhere

You're the trap, the most deceptive snare

I'm bound now, wrapped myself in tangles of you
You were one snare and I'll starve here
That's something I can make peace with
I forgive you being the perfect trap

Just please let your arms forever ensnare...
