Someone else's arms...

Someone else's arms...

A Poem by Jessica Gillitzer
"

No one such choose to endure ongoing harms.

"

You lay upon our bed

Saying I’m in your head

You’re not what you say

Words are games I don’t like to play

No attention paid to the hell you raise

I’m a deaf ear to all your false praise

Your hands now reaching

But there’s a lesson here, I’m teaching

I’m not an object to hold

To the touch more than my skin’s cold

I linger silk fabric's length away

Crazy I won’t take what I wanted all day

I’m slow like honey

Your hands won me

Whispers in my ear have undone me

Saying things will get better

I’m drowning and your words keep getting wetter

I can’t learn to swim

I have to decide carefully against this whim

Not with him

I’m beautiful flowers

On branches he’d trim

I can’t go out on that limb

This may be a bit before your time, but this took me to something from my childhood,

There was a boom, boom in this I liked.

And I have not thought of Dexy's Midnight Runners in forever.

The second time I read this like a rap with a beat behind it... then it was very clear to my brain. It's a good lyric.

There is a now very old saying about sex before marriage...I can't remember how it goes but it is tied to using our bodies first and brains and deeper emotions second or last...

I have a daughter (I can say this cause you don't know her) who was caught in the "sex first and then find out they are dogs" loop for a decade. She finally figured out that a man who doesn't wait isn't worth anything.

Your poem is a cautionary tale for those needing to wake up.

Respect and love
