Picking PetalsA Poem by Jessica Gillitzer"So I'm drunk on love" "But I'm sick on envy""So I'm drunk on love" ... "But I'm sick on envy" . . . I'm sleeping beauty I remain in stasis, no kiss A dream wasted An apple of Eden tasted Unanswered calls And Lonely halls Holes in plaster walls And One broken china doll I'm spinning my wheels With the devil, making deals "These aren't my heels" It's her kisses he steals Shadowed eyes and Bold face lies Holes in your alibis And You wouldn't sing me lullabies I'm not worth your air This moment, far removed from fair You said "For you I dare" It's not into my eyes you stare Petals of flame And 2/3 I'm to blame You said her name And Somehow I have the shame
