Sinners and Saints

Sinners and Saints

A Poem by Jess
"

Wrote this after visiting an old abandoned church in the mountains.

"

Within the walls of this abandoned church

The echoes can be heard

Echoes of footsteps, shouts, joyful and sorrowful words

And in it you can hear the sinners and saints

The ones gone on that paved a way

Inside these faded walls

Upon these old cracked pews

Placed on creaking wood floors

Is where the souls of the sinners and saints fought their wars

The place tears and screams meet silent prayers

Whispers from the past in hopes of quieting fears

A battle zone no one can see but the hearts surely feel

Spiritual relic for those still needing to heal

Visiting an old abandoned church. There is a morose but peaceful feeling. Perhaps even remorse for other things that may conjure in mind. Yes, the battleground for both sinners and saints; where the wars were fought. Beautiful

Reminds me of a local old church
From the days of Englands civil war

People from the nearby town were locked in and told to pray for the local army

They forgot the prisoners following the battle < they were eventually released three days later

The church stands alone in the centre of a field. Known as the Lead Church

WOW! I like this imagery a lot, kinda truthful too. When we look around places and see things like this, we know maybe that building was used really well. Nicely written

You took my there and I felt the ambience of that place. I love old buildings, but particularly churches where people have worshipped for centuries. They have spirituality oozing out of every nook and cranny.
