Storm

Storm

A Poem by Jessie
"

Very quickly drafted about a recent, unseasonable, storm in rural Australia.

"
The rain poured
and filled the gutters -
streets washed down the drains.

The rain poured
and saturated crops -
months of farming lost.

The rain poured
and washed away
this arid land, our arid town.

The rain poured
for days without end -
we watched from houses,
miserable,
half-drowned.

Author's Note

Jessie
Definitely a first effort at this sort of poetry, and to be honest I haven't put that much time into it. I just wanted to see what came out and what people had to say.

This conveys the fright and dismay perfectly.

Captures a moment and a mood beautifully. The imagery puts the reader in the place described, makes the reader feel what the speaker feels.
