To run with wolves

To run with wolves

A Poem by Jessi Leigh
"

A longing...

"
Through the iciest of storms
and powdered snow
you arise
magnificently dressed.
Clearest colbate crystal eyes
purest pale pink tongue
Deepest ebony outlines your expression

Why do you come?
Why do you go
Why do you wait?
To where do you wander. . .

I long to rub necks with your soft powder-white coat
To lick the wounds of my pack
To howl,
To run
To vanish
               into the moonlight. . .

Hear my cry, my plea, my longing
I wish no longer to be mortal,
Human.

I ask not for the greener grass on the other side,
but for the ice cold snow

To run with the wolves, how beautiful that would be
I am so glad I came across this parchment of creativity!
Beautifully done.
Thank you for sharing.

You wish to run with the pack ?
Leap through the snow to the
top of the highest peak, point
your wet nose to the moon and
deep in the stomach emit such a
lonely howl that vibrates the heavens.
Your mate will appear on a far distant
peak and emit such a lonely sound that
will vibrate thoughout your trembling body.
These two panting, slavering hounds of hell
will long for each other deep in their viscera
straining to detect that solitary note, the one
which will trigger release.
Flooding their being with substance of the
solitary male and female, mating through the
miles and smiles, the panting, trembling pair
rest, for they have become one.

Brilliant. From the ideas, to the word play to the damn font. I loved it. Every now and then on WC you discover a writer you have never read before and get insight into their creativity. That is why I click on a new writer each day. You were a stunning discovery, and one I have welcomed the opportunity to read. This poem examplifies that with a diversity of themes and craft. Sheer brilliance. Worth more than 100.
