Last TouchA Poem by Jessi Leigh
Last touch
Nix! The game we used to play to say goodbye Today I crave the sweet innocence of a childhood game. Today I long for everything If I could hold you one last time Breathe in your smile and sky blue eyes Get lost inside of you, together with you Only to find myself Right beside you. Catapulted into a deep Lake Where one learns to breathe under icy water. Drifting In and out of numbness slishy sloshy mud where I cannot rest As creatures of the lake bed creep and scurry with my disturbances. The little monsters that haunt me. Distorted sounds wooossh and wail Even my own only go so far, trapped in the underworld. . . Glimpses of bright fuscia, twighlight moon, neon orange and green through murky waters Fins, tails, air bubbles. And yet the water holds me E c h o i n g all that is. Suspended, longing to sink into the depths To feel, to rest, to love, to breathe. I see you, your spirit yonder Dancing between the sun and eucalyptus leaves I feel you And I am touched by you © 2013 Jessi LeighReviews
