Love Once Shared

Love Once Shared

A Poem by Jessica Neves

That one thing we all find so precious,

Left her dangling in the clouds.

Her true love he was,

And all she could do was admire from afar.

She couldn’t help but feel less important,

Yet her eyes sparkled like the stars in the night sky with the sight of him.

Her true love he was,

Racing past him so that he wouldn’t notice her lingering after his every move.

She hid in hopes that one day,

He just might chase her,

But instead what did it leave her with?

A broken heart.

That one smile that shines so bright,

You can’t help but feel warm inside.

His only love she was,

Making sure the world revolved around him,

In hopes to catch her eyes.

Rejection stumbled upon him when at every attempt to speak,

She left him standing alone.

His only love she was,

He couldn’t control his emotions for her.

Left in despair, he tries to move on.

As he cares for another, he catches her eyes as she gazes away.

He turns back to watch her disappear in the midst of nobodies.

Where did this leave him?

Without her.

And here lies a love once shared,

That in the end,

Never got a chance to blossom.
