The Dove

The Dove

A Poem by Jessica_Thalia

Silken sounds

Clawed up the wall

Knocking at my window’s door

From the window

Dead dust hung

It was unbolted

One push opened it

Strong was my fear but certain there was no danger near

I let my curiosity grow intensely, that my breath I could no longer hold

For that harmony lingering I could not ignore

There it was,

Outside my window, a wounded dove

It fought an angry force

Its body shivered and twisted

Eager to flee home to where its weakened wings could no longer go

Its eyes pleaded for more time,

Time I could not give

For we were the same kind

Therefore both our souls wept

Until there was only mine
