Truth in a few lines

"
We are wandering through fiction in search for the truth
In search of our individual truths
In search of worldly truths
They say all you need in life is love and truth
But what is truth without love
And what is love without truth
One cannot exist without the other
So if you have one you surely have both
But what is love?
What is truth?
How do we find these nearly unattainable ideas, feelings, emotions?
Especially when the world is buried in hatred and lies
We are all lost in this world
Looking for a needle in a haystack
It’s like looking for silver in Africa
Or gold in California
There doesn’t seem to be anything left to find in this world
Where does it all begin?
Will we ever find love and truth?
Things are only real when they are taken away
Then you appreciate them
As soon as we are born, we begin to die
No one should die inside
Truth and love should keep our souls alive
But where is love?
Where is truth?
Are they found in people?
Even if most are apprehensive to trust
Even though most don’t believe in you or in themselves
Do they even exist?
Or are they just wandering through fiction themselves?

Striking lines here. Very arresting. I think of Yeats "the center cannot hold." You take a meditation on a very traditional subject, inject it with a touch of world weariness. Still, the search continues.

love is trust and trust is love.
you can't have one without the other,
for within the two lies truth .
as the world must learn,
there is peace within the eye of the storm..
and it is so cold in the center of fire.peace wizthom

I always find myself accidentally answering questions asked in poems when trying to review them. To me it's a sign that I enjoyed what was written so kudos to you. That being said, personal experience has led me to believe that Truth and Love are ideals that aren't found in other people but in ourselves. Someone can tell us how that feel but until we truly believe it, it doesn't really matter. I've loved women who didn't love me the same but told me they did and I believed the feeling was mutual until I was proven otherwise. My truth was different from the facts as was my love. What's inside of us is the most powerful thing, so long as we convey Truth and Love in our lives we'll believe it's out there and get it back... it may be a little jaded and disillusioned at times but if it's true to us it's true indeed. Again, this is an excellent work you have here.

You ask some real big questions in this one! Girl, I'm not sure if love and truth are found in people, but so far from what I have experienced, I would say they are a great source! I just love the first line most of all!
