Too Easily Torn

Too Easily Torn

A Poem by JessicaGadziala

Some days I would swear I am
sacred-
the universe bursting from my fingertips-
but mostly I am just
bones wrapped in flesh too easily torn-
as small as
a mouse at the edge of the Grand Canyon-
full of the knowledge of how
inconsequential I really am-
just a body taking up space
and air
destined to spend my nights
screaming at empty white pages
trying to find a way to be
remembered
trying, myself, to remember
that sometimes, some days,
I am sacred.
