S&M

A Poem by JessicaGadziala

He left bruises on my throat for a week-
once lifted me and threw me across a bed like my
entire existance was nothing
compared to the strength in his arms-
he wanted me like a fist
wants something to slam into-
because he was a spring
wound too tightly with memories of her
and all the things he never said
and he sprang at me with all his
repression.
And maybe I wanted him to hurt me-
feeling nothing but numb inside that the
manifestation of his pain as purple bruises on my lips
and red scratches on my hips
was evidence that there was still
sensations to be felt.

An excellent portrayal of the confusion violent sex can cause in the mind! This is sensitively written in an intelligent and insightful voice.
