The Vampire

The Vampire

A Poem by Jessica

The belltower tolls in the dead of the night
The ghastly sound the only one in sight
The moon is gone the stars have died
And all else left has slunk inside

Within all the darkened alleyways
Bright red eyes entrap your gaze
You cannot walk you cannot run
There’s something now that must be done

Hungry faces leer in the gloom
Whispering the words that spell out your doom
Ghost white hands start reaching out
If you only had a voice you’d scream and shout

Trapped alone in your mind of fear
There’s no one that can help you now, not here
Softly, gently, they pull you in
Cradle you to them just like him

A flash of white, a burst of pain
All you know in the pattering rain
The darkness closes all you feel
Your blood running over you, their next meal

And then you know why no one else
Was out in that city by themself
For in those darkened alleyways
The end that met them all was the same

A city that’s dead in the dead of night
But nothing will change with first light
Cold as death you fall to the floor
A hooded figure before death’s door

Skeletal face from beneath the cloak
Chillingly laughs like only one would
Any chance you once had to escape now looks dire
The fate of all who crossed the path of the vampire.

The belltower tolls in the dead of the night

The ghastly sound the only one in sight

The moon is gone the stars have died
And all else left has slunk inside

Within all the darkened alleyways
Bright red eyes entrap your gaze
You cannot walk you cannot run
There’s something now that must be done

Hungry faces leer in the gloom
Whispering the words that spell out your doom
Ghost white hands start reaching out
If you only had a voice you’d scream and shout

Trapped alone in your mind of fear
There’s no one that can help you now, not here
Softly, gently, they pull you in
Cradle you to them just like him

A flash of white, a burst of pain
All you know in the pattering rain
The darkness closes all you feel
Your blood running over you, their next meal

And then you know why no one else
Was out in that city by themself
For in those darkened alleyways
The end that met them all was the same

A city that’s dead in the dead of night
But nothing will change with first light
Cold as death you fall to the floor
A hooded figure before death’s door

Skeletal face from beneath the cloak
Chillingly laughs like only one would
Any chance you once had to escape now looks dire
The fate of all who crossed the path of the vampire.
