Nothing Else Matters

Nothing Else Matters

A Poem by Jessica O.
"

As I write, I'm listening to the Metallica song, "Nothing Else Matters." What I'm about to write is a series ofthoughts that come to my head when I hear this song.

"

When did you realize you must leave us?

When did you come to this decision to

Annihilate yourself from this so-called "oblivion?"

I try to convince to no avail

I tell you to not care what they do or say or know.

Still, you let their bitter words get to you.

How can you convince yourself

"Nothing else matters anymore"

Just because they tell you that you never will be

Good enough to succeed?

My friend, I ask you to reconsider.

Why would you throw away your life

When you haven't really lived one yet?

Why would you convince yourself that

Nothing else matters anymore

Just because, deep down, they want to

Be who you are.

Don't you realize that their words are, in fact,

Meaningless

Like your effort to convince yourself

"Nothing else matters anymore"

Just because some words broke you?
