Il Fait un Mauvais Virage

(French, "He takes a wrong turn) This poem will be featured in the Shepherd University Writer-in-Residence Writing MasterClass on 9/27/12. The poem does have a story behind it.

He never moves on,
Only living in memory,
Mostly bitter, never put to rest.
He tells a friend,
No picture in sight,
Though it is the topic of conversation.
He tells another,
Reading too much
Into a line or two that enters her mind.
She listens,
Stories coming from both directions,
Rage being renewed again and again.
She cries,
Feeling persecuted
By one that she unintentionally hurt.
She rages,
Only in silence,
Because she is determined not to let him win.
He watches,
Only from a distance,
Never knowing of her tears only moments before.
She forgets,
Moving on,
Unlike him, who never will.
