Chapter Nine~Unwanted ChemistryA Chapter by Jessi Raine is falling
When the bell rang, I decided I should call Matt: “Hello ma’dear” he said it so cute, “I can't come by tonight, I have to do chemistry with.” I swallow hard. “Mason.” I could barley get the name out. “What.” he said, I thought maybe I killed him because he didn’t say anything afterwards. “Yeah, it's okay you have to do it with McKenna.” I couldn’t even make it sound okay and he knew I was upset. “You have my heart, Aurora” he said in a soft tone. “I know, it's just I am worried to go over to Mason's.” I say, “And, why is that, my love?”(I love it when he calls me his love) “Well, he was kidding around but still, he told me to bring pajamas because it might be an over nighter.” I say. “If I wasn't in the hospital, I'd beat him senseless.” Now he is upset. “It's okay, I’m not going to let anything happen.” I say, “That’s not the point, I should be able to protect you, kind of like how you protected me.” he says with a laugh, “Not funny, Matt!” I say, I tell him goodbye and suck up my pride, I could trust Matt, and he could trust me, but just in case I stopped by Walmart and picked up some pepper spray. It takes me a while to find his house because one, he has chicken scratch hand writing, and two he gives directions as good as a fifth grader.
When I see his house I almost go into shock. Its beautiful, two stories, made of marble, and has a yard full of rose bushes, and wildflowers. “Good evening, Miss Tree.” said the butler, I felt like he had a whole secret life no one else knew about, kind of like Alfred from Batman. “Um, hello.” I say, he led me into the house and it was even more beautiful then the outside, they had a spiral staircase with a chandelier made of what looked like diamonds. “It's about time you got here, we have quite a bit to do.” Mason says practically gliding down the staircase. “It only took me so long because you didn’t know your exact street address.” I say, a little perturbed. I couldn’t help but feel something was going to happen, and I wanted so much to just leave. “Well, let's get started, my mother already knows you’re here so we set you a seat, lets go.” he say, gesturing up the stairs. His bedroom is the size of half our house, he has a flat screen TV, there is a grand piano, a beautiful desk that looks like it was from the Renaissance era, and a bed to match. I couldn’t believe that such a toad could live like a king! “So what do you want to do, a Powerpoint, a Keynote, or a poster?” I ask, he walks to the window looks out and says “We could do an act.” “An act? What would we do an act over?” I knew even though he looked like he might be smart, he wasn’t. “We could show how protons and electrons are attracted to each other." he says in a very smooth tone, I gulp hard and try to ignore what he had just said.“Let’s just get though this project.” I say, trying to make it hasty, “Yeah.” he says. We work for 2 hours, then go down stairs to eat supper. Lobster with butter, clam chowder, which I thought was disgusting, and to finish it, a beautiful Tiramisu, layered with chocolate syrup and caramel. We go back up to work on our project but when I get to his room, I look back to see he is not there anymore. I feel like he is going to jump out and kill me so I grab my pepper spray. “Mason? Mason this isn’t funny, come out or you’ll regret it!!” I look around, then I feel his arms slide around me, I start to fight him, but he’s much too strong. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” I scream, “You can yell all you want, my parents left and no one is around.” he says. Regardless I keep fighting, then he throws me onto the bed I try and jump up but he is already on top of me. © 2011 Jessi Raine is fallingAuthor's Note
