WHERE WERE YOU

WHERE WERE YOU

A Poem by JayDee

When you need them the most

And they are not there

They know the truth

But still refrain from all care

They know you are hurting

But couldn’t give a damn

Only when they need something from you

Will they be there whenever they can

A sad truth of human nature

Selfish and cruel

A decision it will always be

If not to remain a mule

They say it’s how I am

Lack of emotion or don’t know what to do

Why not at least try

Something different that may adapt you

For the better

Not for the worst

Only you can make that something go wrong

If you don’t decide first

You want me to be there

Every time I am needed or wanted

So, what’s stopping you

From trying to do the same undoubted

You lack faithfulness

But want it all the time

You lack consistency

Often failing to keep the straight line

A failed attempt

At pretending like you care

You say it’s who you are

So why fake something you know isn’t there

My dislike grows stronger

Seeing that nothing is changing

I’m tired of being the only one

Continuously doing something that is draining…

I never stop trying

I guess I’m a fool

No matter how many times

I tell myself not to

I can’t help but care

Even for those I don’t know

Knowing they may never be there

When I’m needed, I’ll still show

I hate that feeling

Honestly, I do

I want to stop giving a damn

But I do not know how to

It is my nature and mentality

And it shall remain

As for yours,

I hope it’s something that doesn’t stay the same.

There is nothing worse than a one-sided relationship. It happens quite a lot. When you mix the willing with an unwilling all you get is heartache and failure.

A nice rant. Well structured and consistently rhymed. Nice work.
