Something in MeA Poem by Jesse Booker
Once I was shrouded in darkness
Garbed in a cloak of despair I concealed my heart from the world My heart was wretched to my eyes A most shameful thing to bare I had resolved to destroy it Love had become a bitter curse And affection was a snare So I vowed to become hollow Somehow you saw through the darkness And found something true and rare And you found a healer, like you With each embrace, I am restored And with each moment we share The world becomes bright and vibrant Mending each other with every touch We join together as a pair And reveal our hearts with every smile Even in my darkest hour You saw through the cloak I wear And you saw that something in me
