The DarknessA Poem by Jesse Booker
The darkness engulfs me again
Like the return of an old friend It lends its sympathetic ear And listens to my confessions Though wise, the darkness does not judge It is not boastful like the light Nor does it intrude on my heart For I am my own solution But the light is delusional Trusting the goodness of its deeds Shining brightly for all to see And making villains of the dark But darkness understands the heart It does not need recognition I wrap myself in its cocoon And after, I am born again
