Mister RighteousA Poem by Jesse BookerMister
Righteous, sell me a prayer For my life
is a troubled affair I need your
guidance to help me through I’ll buy
your wisdom and give your due
Mister
Righteous, please tell me again How I’m
depraved and living in sin I’m in great
need of your sound advice To save me
from the devil’s device
What can I
do to save my own soul? More money
in the collection bowl? If I wear
your smile upon my face Can I come
in to your meeting place?
Shall I
point my finger at the damned? And warn
them of the judgement at hand? Oh, what may
I do to recompense? Wear your
custom clothes at others’ expense?
Mister
Righteous, with answers I seek Shall I tune
in at this time next week? So you can
tell me from the TV About the
way that my life should be? © 2014 Jesse BookerFeatured Review
