LovebirdsA Poem by Jesse BookerWhen I found
you, you could not fly Your broken
wing burdened your soul Your cries
of despair pierced my heart Oh, how you
longed to soar the skies
When you
found me, I had no voice No song to
sing, no sound of hope What is a
bird without a song? A useless
shell without a soul
You could
not fly, I had no voice We made our
nest upon the dirt Our humble
home of joy and love Though we
did long for the tree above
And over
time, your wing did mend So, on a
branch was our new home Your morning
song did please my soul Your mended
wing warmed our children
And then the
day came when they took flight From our new
home atop the tree They left us
alone, just you and I So, we
departed and soared the sky
As all other
things, it had to end As you lie here,
in your last moment I will lie
with you, as it draws near And with my
last breath, I’ll sing you my song © 2014 Jesse BookerFeatured Review
