The TowerA Poem by Jesse BookerBehold the
tower which looms in the distance Gaze upon it
with fear and reverence For the
tower rules over us all From the day
we are born, until we die
Behold the
tower with an orb on each side They feed it
power and bring it to life Then a sword
emerges from its top And emits a
signal, calling humankind
Where have
they gone? Your loved ones and mine? Where are
the ones who answered its call? They have
vanished into the night To worship
the tower, never to return
But what of
us who did not answer the call? Behold, the
new light upon its top It seeks out
those who did not conform Fugitives we
are from its watchful eye
Lo, I have
seen those touched by the tower’s light They yet
live, but they live without a face They look as
manikins stalking in the night Made to
serve the tower, they now hunt us down
With the
will of the people Added to the
might of the tower The future is
bleak But may we
never surrender © 2014 Jesse BookerReviews
