Paint is Better Than PeopleA Poem by Jesse Torres IIspeaks for itself
Paint is better than people.
Paint does only what it is told. If it smears, streaks and leaks it will eventually stop. People don't. When paint is mixed for hue and shade, it doesn't resist. It enjoys the shaking. New paint means....a new space, says to the occupant, you are to feel earthy, or, let's be intelligent, or, Shall we invite some friends? When eventually paint is chipped its layers tell of their time at the front. One saw a decade and a child. Another, loneliness. This one watched illness That one Was lonely, A guest room. Paint on the brush is power. A dripping lathering on the roller is a loaded pistol The arm feels the weight The first stroke and the canvass now has depth. Paint gets to pretend and is forgiven. Paint pleases people. © 2013 Jesse Torres II |
