Universal Language: LoveA Poem by JessI need to be strong I have to hold on as I move on Leave behind the mess of misguided thoughts that love and pain are somehow the same Or that love just means tears and more agony Love conquers all one way or another Put down your armor Have a little faith and you will see the truth Love is beautiful and free, it is not pain but the opposite Suffering comes from our attachments, our unrealistic notions that we can make things concrete that are fluid and fleeting We blame love for all wrongdoings, betrayals, heartbreaks Too proud or stubborn to look at ourselves or others, we claim love makes us blind fools Yes and no I think we often see what we want to see We ignore what doesn’t fit the picture we prefer Love can makes us scared and brave, strong and weak Caught up in dreams more than reality We expect love to work miracles make the impossible possible Sometimes it does more often it doesn’t Perhaps we choose the wildish naiveté on an unconscious level We know people don’t change just because we wish they would Not matter how deeply you care and love them While people need love and support they also need to want the change We use love to escape reality which adds to the thrill but has the potential for danger Like all things love can be manipulated and abused But when it’s pure and true it’s heavenly Love is naturally good and when it’s not it is people that are to blame If we could just open our eyes we’d see it’s everywhere in many simple acts It is a basic human trait to care, to lend a hand, to love While times change this does not Sometimes we fear love like we fear death both can mean letting people go Without love there is no joy, no beauty, no laughter, no life Centuries we have searched to find meaning in our existence When perhaps it has been to truly love without reservation Perhaps we are all soul mates on this journey and what we are meant to learn is to listen to our universal language: love And when we all speak this language our dreams will become the new reality © 2016 JessReviews

I find sharing my writing both terrifying and exhilarating. Writing for me is an outlet, always has been. W.. more..Writing
