Going Dark

Going Dark

A Poem by Jessalynn
"

Watching someone slip away

"
Don’t go dark again
If you feel it take my hand
I know it’s easy to fall back down
Don’t listen to that voice, your in charge now

I can feel you slipping away
Back behind those walls of grey
The sunrise can’t reach you there
It’s warmth and colors fading, leaveing you bare

Don’t go dark again, please
This silence is so loud, I can’t hear, can’t breath
I promise I’ll try to give you what you need
Even if it takes me and makes me bleed

I want you to know I’ve never spoke a word I didn’t mean
But there are a few I haven’t breathed
But I’ll be honest if it keeps you present now
I’ll say them all, bare my soul if it would bring you around

I’ll hold on like I hold my breath
Clutching onto strings of hope slipping through my fingers
I won’t let go until the darkness takes me too
I won’t let go not until you do

I really liked this and, as Chris points out, each reader will see something personal in the lines that may apply to the individual life. For me, it reminds me of a friend who, years ago, lost her husband slowly to addiction- she was always there for him and would have done anything for him; he had periods when he would fight the addiction, but in the end, his choices were too strong and she could no longer hold him back by her love.

G'Morning, if you're up.

I think you've found a fair way to talk with yourself through a relationship. I guess each of your readers have to decide for themselves their own "breakpoint" and what they'll do when it's reached.
