You’re my favorite bookA Poem by JessalynnA poem of of discovering someone who is my favorite story
Discovering you, was picking up a book with no discerning cover.
Reading through every line, every page, and finding something other. Though there was no title and no prologue written down, I found your story a mystery yet familiar in the sound. The pages complete, but slightly worn. They were mended in places that were once a little torn. Rereading chapters so I can understand you better. I run my hands along the binding made of worn in leather. I trace my fingers over every letter and every word, I don’t think this story was ever truly heard. So I’m making notes in all the spaces and folding the corners at the top to save my favorite pages. I’ve laughed and cried and loved and longed over the words like lyrics to your favorite songs. And someday if you’ll let me I’ll even sing along. I’ve replayed the conversations and secrets that you’ve shared. I don’t know how you’ve been strong this long, I would have been so scared. So I’ll hold tight the pieces of your soul that I know you hate to show. I see them through the cracking armor, your walls that have weakened now. After everything I’ve read I know you’ll have your doubts. Building those barriers must have been hard, all that effort on your own. But I’ll help you take them down now. Brick by brick, stone by stone until instead of walls, you have built a home. © 2023 JessalynnAuthor's Note
