Heart For Rent

Heart For Rent

A Poem by Jessalynn
"

Poem about how it felt to play the love game and lose.

"
I have been evicted
Cast into the murky alley
Who could have predicted
Wouldn't have guessed this as our finale

Don't know why I was addicted
It's not in my mentality
To be so afflicted
By a love with no morality

But you were my home
Not much of a home

With your cardboard heart and your vacant eyes
Your soul was hollow yet full of lies
What I mistook for passion became a possession
Love laced with deception turned into obsession

Keeping you was a game I had to win
Driving me to the brink of a looney bin
Was it such a sin?
To want to win?
To be let in?
Even if only held together by safety pins

Waiting to burst at any moment
Thought you were my lover
Turns out you were my opponent
No use to be a proponent

No use to plead my case
I was only just renting this space.

I love the flow to this write and how you poured out emotions... very honest and that's what
made it most enjoyable. I can relate to the hurt and the pain...the disappointment and the
loneliness the comes after the heartbreak. Excellent job expressing yourself :)

Strange how so few ever "see" themselves ...losing... isn't it?

Do we always go in with our eyes open? And if we DID - how do we "lose" when we know WHAT we are willing to do AND accept from the start?

Many a lost love has this in common renting one love is a bad obsession blind by love and played for a fool you both were not playing by the same rules. I would rather be stranded on a deserted Island with out love and on one to call for my broken heart leave me alone this kind of love bites and smarts.

I can relate, the most unlovable person is strangely the easiest sometimes to fall for and the reasons why are often for having to do with the person falling for them. Vacant eyes are trapping, you gaze too long looking for life, love, and soul and before you know it you are trapped, with no escape but through your own suffering and most of the time that isn't even enough. People like that only want to feed off of those who honestly care. People who are good in soul and in spirit who will give until it hurts and until they have to start giving away themselves. Then you, that good soul, are left with nothing but to give but your own life...and it hurts because they might want that....but I would never want that from you. Beautiful, your writing is in every way. Very captivating and I love your use of imagery. ^-^ much love and hugs
