Heart For RentA Poem by JessalynnPoem about how it felt to play the love game and lose.
I have been evicted
Cast into the murky alley Who could have predicted Wouldn't have guessed this as our finale Don't know why I was addicted It's not in my mentality To be so afflicted By a love with no morality But you were my home Not much of a home With your cardboard heart and your vacant eyes Your soul was hollow yet full of lies What I mistook for passion became a possession Love laced with deception turned into obsession Keeping you was a game I had to win Driving me to the brink of a looney bin Was it such a sin? To want to win? To be let in? Even if only held together by safety pins Waiting to burst at any moment Thought you were my lover Turns out you were my opponent No use to be a proponent No use to plead my case I was only just renting this space.
